BURROW

Step inside a wombat’s dream!

Burrow is an interactive projection installation created for Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, in collaboration with the Centre for Projection Art. With artwork and animation by the amazing Isobel Knowles this work was designed to help ease anxiety for children and caregivers. Burrow transforms the walk through the radiation therapy bunker into a comforting, curious experience.

BURROW WORKSHOP

  • Age range is usually 3 - 12 but we can tailor workshops for any age range. Approx. 30 participants per workshop.

  • We can present these workshops wither indoor or outdoor ~ minimal setup and no power required.

  • Up to 3 x 45 ~ 50 mins workshops a day or rolling sessions. Workshops can also be presented as casual rolling workshops during a participatory installation of The Musical Plants.

Burrow is a gentle, collaborative workshop where children and families explore the world of a lonely wombat and help guide it into the light through drawing, play, and making. Participants begin with simple warm ups and shared drawing, then create wombat dreams and build burrows from paper and mark making. Their drawings are then brought to life using an iPad based animation app, with fluro pastels and black paper plus warm, slightly darkened lighting. Workshops are tailored to each child’s needs, with optional take home materials where helpful.
